I am doing some research for the Writing Center. Here is a brief summary:
In recent qualitative and quantitative studies,
results support the stigmatization of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
in different aspects including public, courtesy, and self stigma (Bussing, Koro-Ljungberd, Noguchi, Mason, Mayerson &
Garvan, 2012; Bussing & Mehta, 2013; Fuermaier, Tucha, Koerts, Mueller,
Lange & Tucha, 2012; Moses, 2010; Tran & Waite, 2010). The literature focus of this study will be accounts
of the public stigma held by teachers and peers, and resources that address
strategies for tutoring writers with ADHD. Currently, a disconnection exists in
the literature between the effect of the social stigma of ADHD and pedagogy in
Writing Centers.
The purpose of this study is to address this disconnection and determine
if stigma plays a role in disclosure concerns and tutoring situations in the
Writing Center. The implications and influences stigma has on the peer-tutoring
situation will then be explored. Tutor education and training strategies will
be developed and recommended to minimize stigma for writers. It is the goal of
this research to ensure that the Writing Center is an inclusive environment for
a diversity of learning styles by improving tutor knowledge and acceptance.
Your research is really interesting and I hope it goes well. :)
